A Guide to Diagnosing and Treating Allergies
When appropriate, an allergy test may be required after a thorough clinical evaluation. Food, insect bites, drug allergies, and environmental allergies can be tested via skin and blood. There are three main options:
Treatment options include:
1. There are prescription and over-the-counter options.
2. Desensitization – Allergy shots, and immunotherapy (enhancing your immune system’s ability to resist allergens) are options available.
3. In addition to medication, lifestyle changes can include avoiding the allergens altogether.
Cough / Asthma
Asthma restricts the airways in the lungs because it is an inflammatory disease. In severe asthma attacks, the airways become swollen and inflamed. Moreover, the airways produce more mucus and the muscles around them are tighter. As a result, airways become narrow, making breathing difficult.
Colds, sinusitis, allergies, exercise, laughing, crying, smoking, and changing weather can trigger asthma.

Asthma Symptoms
A coughing fit
Breathing problems.
(During a flare) difficulty completing or speaking full sentences
A wheezing sound
Exhaustion and fatigue
Feeling of tightness in the chest

Asthma Treatment
Asthma can be diagnosed and treated by our staff. In addition to knowing the cause of their asthma, patients want to know what it is that is causing it. Through discourse and testing, we locate the triggers. To minimize exposure to the known triggers, we will coordinate a plan. We will educate and discuss novel asthma biologic therapies. Let’s work together to help you breathe easier and get back to living your life to the fullest.
